Mvskoke Fund launches Employee Christmas Lending Program

Christmas Lending program adapts during COVID-19

OKMULGEE, Oklahoma — The Mvskoke Fund opened the Muscogee
(Creek) Nation Employee Christmas Lending Program on Nov. 5. Due to Covid-19, the program has made some changes to the application process.

Mvskoke Fund Chief Executive Officer Christopher Coburn said the face-to-face interaction will be limited to closing appointments only.

“We want to be able to offer this service to employees while keeping everyone as safe as possible,” Coburn said.

In order to qualify for a loan, applicants must be either a Muscogee (Creek) Nation Tribal employee or a Muscogee (Creek) Nation Department of Health employee, who has been employed one consecutive year or longer. Eligibility is restricted to employees that are managed through the MCN Human Resources department because loans require payroll deductions.

This year, the program will offer loans in the set amount of $500. The loan term is 16 payments over eight months from Jan. 8 to Aug. 16. Funding is available on a first come, first served basis until it is exhausted.

“We are excited that we have more funding available than we have in years past, which means we get to help more people than ever before,” Coburn said.

There are two ways to apply. Applicants can submit a PDF application via
email to XMasMLF@mcn-nsn.gov or applicants can complete a digital application on the Mvskoke Fund website.

Applications must be submitted with all required documents by 5:00pm on Nov. 16, in order to be considered complete. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
